The Town of Evans Police Force was established during the winter of
1930 with Elmore F White as Chief Constable along with Clifford
Caswell, John Walters, John Dash and Edward Yesser. It was not
until 1952 that the force grew to a department with five full time police
officers under direction of Mike Crawford as Chief. During those times
emergency calls were transmitted over the open airways of Buffalo’s
radio station WMJ for the patrol to call the operator. Two way radio
was in abundance and only installed in 1 patrol car. The department
grew significantly by mid 1971 with 32 employees (23 officers full and
part-time) and 6 patrol cars equipped with state of the art radios.
In 2008 the statistics show that Evans Police Department has 27
officers, 5 part time officers, 9 dispatchers, 2 clerical positions, 3 dog
control officers, 2 police matrons and 1 crossing guard some
employed on full time others as part time.
As we also salute to these brave men and women who choice our
